How old do I have to be?
Members must be at least 7 years old. Members may remain in Pony Club through December31st of the year in which they turn 25.
How do I become a member?
Go to About Eno, click on Membership Requirements
and Application Form for details about joining the club.
Do I have to own a horse?
Ownership of a horse or pony is not required for membership, but arrangements
for obtaining a suitable mount must be made on an individual basis. Stallions
are unsuitable mounts for Pony Club activities. Horses and ponies must
be at least five years of age for USPC activities (see USPC Policy 0135
for complete information). Please note: The first year is considered to
be Jan. 1 following date of foaling.
What if I don't have a pony, what if I have a horse?
It doesn't matter, so long as the mount is suitable according to Pony
Club policy. The word "pony" in United States Pony Clubs comes from the
British Pony Club and was originally used to refer to the size of the
rider, not to the size of the horse.
What if I don't have my own horse trailer?
Our club tries to arrange rides for members who do not own a trailer or
it is being repaired. While we try to help as best we can, we can not
guarantee a ride.
What kind of clothes do I have to buy?
USPC is committed to safety. It is a membership requirement that Pony
Club members wear an F1163 ASTM equestrian helmet having a seal bearing
the letters SEI (Safety Equipment Institute). This type of helmet is mandatory
and shall be worn with the retention system properly secured at all times
while mounted. Parents should also be prepared to purchase the minimum
basic riding attire such as riding breeches and riding boots. Proper footwear
is required at all club meetings involving a horse.
What kind of helmet do I have to wear? Only ASTM approved helmets
are allowed. Check out this website for more information: http://www.seinet.org/CPL/astm1163_04a.htm

How much does it cost to join Eno Triangle Pony Club?
As of January 1, 2007, New Member Dues are $200 for the calendar year and Continuing Member Dues are $175 for the calendar year. If you are a NEW MEMBER who joins between September 1st and December 31st, you may join as a prorated member. Upon acceptance to our club, new members will receive a pony club pin, the D manual, Record Book, Red Book, a website password for members and parents and information about our club operations. Of the total dues paid, Eno retains a small portion for club expenses and the purchase of items given to the new member. The rest of the fees are national dues. For a new member, fees cover the period from January 1st through December 31st. National fees are $75 or $85 for new and prorated members respectively (these fees pay for insurance, national dues and an initiation fee for new members). Also included in our annual club dues is a $10.00 annual Carolina regional fee. A parent sponsor is an individual voting membership (for club policy & officers) for a parent/guardian of an Eno Triangle Pony Club Member in good standing (dues current). How often does the club have meetings?
Eno generally has at least one mounted meeting/clinic or unmounted (or
dismounted) meeting each month, except during the summer months when we
hold camp. During unmounted meetings members learn about feeding, shoeing,
veterinary care, and other areas of horse management. Under adult supervision,
the more experienced Pony Clubbers instruct and assist younger members.
Meeting/clinics are posted on our calendar with the RSVP deadlines. Eno
deadlines are final.
How do I get directions to meetings, clinics and events?
Directions to meetings, clinics and events are posted on our website under maps and are also listed on our secured site under "Files" then the appropriate event.
Do my parents have to "know" horses?
Parents play an important role in Pony Club. There are many areas in which
parents are needed, not all of which require equine knowledge. Eno parents
are required to assume a volunteer role within the Club such as Club leader,
chaperone, webmaster, camp organizer, jump judge, or assist in activities,
rallies and fund-raisers.
Do I need to/can I take riding lessons in addition to Pony Club?

I understand that all your club communications are via emails and
through website postings, do I need to own a computer?
Due to the size of Eno Triangle Pony Club, we communicate with our members
via emails and our website. All prospective members and members must have
an email address and be able to access our website to review our calendar
and club announcements on a regular basis.
If I have a question, who do I ask?
New members should address their questions to membership coordinator. Continuing members should address their questions to our DC, our instructional coordinator, our rally coordinator or the appropriate person for your question. Eno parents are always happy to mentor you so just ask as well or our upper level pony clubbers, both are great resources. All members should check the website first, to make sure the information you are seeking is not there already.

What's Eno's Redbook?
Members of Eno Triangle are required to keep a record of their training
in a Redbook (referred to as the Redbook because it's in a red folder).
The Redbook helps our members and our DCs evaluate and track member's
progress in Pony Club and their readiness to attempt a rating and should
be brought to all mounted and unmounted meetings.
The Redbook is comprised of material mostly found on the USPC Website on
their forms page. They are Standards of Proficiency for D through A levels, Rating
Test Sheets and USPC Flow Charts for various levels, USPC Guidelines for
D-1 through C-2 Testings and Guidelines for C-3 Testing. The materials
you can NOT download from the USPC are Eno Redbook Checklist (see FILES
and Rating Info or Forms)
and Requirements for Covering Curriculum (copy in Eno's Library).
Other helpful sources of information for ratings NOT found
in the Redbook are found on our website by clicking on Activities then Ratings and behind our firewall
under FILES and Rating Info. Information there includes the very informative
Kathy Kelly Clinic Standards and
Rating Clinic handout as well as test dates, etc.
